Britney Spears NOT Performing At American Music Awards, Despite Reports

Britney Spears is not performing at Sunday’s American Music Awards, despite reports. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the false speculation. We’re told the claims are all wrong.

A number of outlets are reporting that Spears will be singing at the AMAs, which kick off at 8 p.m. EST at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. For instance, Heavy.com writes in an article about the show, “Tonight is the 2016 American Music Awards and the roster of performers is filled with A-list musicians across the board from Sting to Britney Spears to Bruno Mars.” Similarly, Enstarz.com erroneously contends that Spears will perform her song “Slumber Party” with Tinashe.

And it’s not just them. Even the Wikipedia page for the 2016 American Music Awards wrongly claims Spears and Tinashe are performing their song. Added to that is a fake Twitter account with the handle @americanmawards that tweeted on Saturday, “Rejoice Britney Army cuz @britneyspears is performing at the AMAs tomorrow! #amas #specialperformance.” Despite all the misinformation, a rep for Spears exclusively tells Gossip Cop, “She is not” performing at the American Music Awards.

While Spears will not be one of this year’s performers, there are still plenty of other big artists who are slated to take the stage. Among those who are actually singing during Sunday’s AMAs are Lady Gaga, Green Day, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars and Sting.
